During her visit, she met with the director of the hospital , Tomas Petsinis, MBA, LL.M., MSc., the deputy for mental care , Martin Hollý, MBA, the head of the centre , Pavel Doubek, Ph.D., and Prof. Ján Prašek, M.D., CSc., who is the guarantor of the psychotherapy programmes. Colleagues from individual departments also welcomed the precious visitor.
During the tour of the beautiful premises of the Centre for Mental Rehabilitation (CDR), the Commissioner looked at the rooms of patients in the not yet opened part of the pavilion. She saw the swimming pool, the gym and also the multifunctional hall. Similarly, she was impressed by the therapeutic areas such as music therapy, culinary therapy, the virtual reality therapy room and the unique phototherapy room, which is unrivalled in Europe in terms of its size.
Klára Šimáčková Laurenčíková was impressed not only by the environment of the facility, but especially by the quality and complexity of the care offered. "I was very pleasantly surprised by the entire Pavilion S. From the architecture, to the very nice and smiling staff, to the ever-expanding spectrum of care for the mentally ill. It is truly a wonderful place that also provides patients with opportunities for a holistic approach to treatment," said the Commissioner.
The visit was not only interested in the aforementioned spectrum of care, the age of the patients, the number of open wards, but also the economic accessibility. Dr. Martin Hollý assured her that the treatment in the CDR is accessible even for socially disadvantaged patients. Which refuted her initial fears. As far as age was concerned, Ms Laurenčíková's question reflected the nationwide problem with psychiatric care for children and adolescents. Again, she was assured that capacity expansion was being worked hard in that regard.
During the meeting, the question of sufficient staff was also raised. The station nurse Mgr. et Mgr. Eliska Pouskova, who is the main face of staff advertisements, described the unique approach to staff, the many benefits, the great team and the positive working environment. With a smile, she did not forget to mention that there are still some vacancies.
The Mental Rehabilitation Center also actively partners with non-profit organizations in the region. "We have a very good cooperation especially with the Lomikámen organization, which provides its services to our patients afterwards in a home environment. Furthermore, we also work with field and residential services, the Labour Office and district social security administrations, as the social situations of patients are very diverse," said Mgr. Bc. Klára Vyletová, Dis., health and social worker.
Klára Šimáčková Laurenčíková ended her visit by saying that she would like to return to the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and see other pavilions, which are dedicated to rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system and day care medicine. "I definitely want to visit your hospital again in the future and see other departments so that I can get to know the full range of care provided," she concluded.
