Psychotherapy Department

Anyone going through a challenging time in life can not only improve their quality of life with the help of professionals, but also learn to take better care of themselves. At the Centre for Mental Rehabilitation we therefore place emphasis on therapeutic goals aimed at strengthening self-development and self-control, as well as preventing risky situations. The development of social skills and providing support in dealing with both common and more complex life challenges is also a priority.

The basis of our psychotherapeutic program in this regard is always the voluntary cooperation of the patient with the staff. Treatment then takes place primarily in the form of individual and group therapy. In these, we focus specifically on psychosocial rehabilitation, which can be imagined as a return to life after injury.

Psychotherapy department for clients with borderline personality disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder

This therapeutic program is specifically designed for clients suffering from borderline personality disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. It lasts for six weeks, during which time clients are assigned to different therapeutic groups according to their type of illness. The treatment time consists of community meetings, group psychotherapy; then complementary therapies such as music therapy, art therapy or drama therapy.

The program also includes a wide range of physical activities in the pool and gym, adapted to the individual abilities and needs of the clients. In addition, it is expanded with opportunities for physiotherapy and the development of new sports skills.

The structure of the entire therapeutic programme is based on the work of the leading Czech psychiatrist Prof. Ján Praško Pavlov, M.D., CSc. At the same time, the content is carefully designed to provide maximum support and tools to reduce the symptoms associated with the diseases in question. Last but not least, although most of the treatment is done in a group format, we carefully take into account the individual needs of each client.

Sample of a therapeutic day

  • The day begins after seven o'clock. After morning hygiene, clients gather for an activation exercise with a story. At eight o'clock it is time for breakfast, after which there is a regular round, during which the patients are attended by the attending physician. The morning is rounded off with a community meeting where patients are introduced to psychotherapy education and also have a space to interact with the staff on an equal footing.
  • The morning part of the program continues at 10:30 a.m. when patients meet for group psychotherapy. The groups are divided according to the specifics of their difficulties. At twelve o'clock it is then lunch time.
  • The afternoon part of the program begins with the individual program, which starts at 12:30, when the patient has individual therapy once a week. This is then followed by two blocks of therapies (arte, movement, music, etc.).
  • After the individual/complementary therapies, patients have a free individual programme followed by relaxation. From eight o'clock onwards, there is a community meeting combined with a club, an activity organised by the patients to relax and bring the team together. The nightly quiet time, during which everyone goes to sleep to recharge for the next day, starts at 10 pm.
